so·cial en·ter·prise (n.)– Any earned-income business or strategy undertaken by a nonprofit to generate revenue in support of its charitable mission. "Earned income" consists of payments received in direct exchange for a product, service or privilege.

At Axion Business Solutions, we call our practice area that focuses on the intersection of nonprofit mission-based organizations, private business & industry, Academia, government and the community the Center for Social Entrepreneurship, Grants, Research and Development. This practice area is focused on the business of helping not-for-profit organizations change the entire paradigm by which they operate and generate the capital they need to carry out their mission -- a new paradigm, based on sustainability and social entrepreneurship. It is also focused on helping for-profit and industry create value by better integrating with the non-profit sector – which in today’s world includes crossover and competition.
